Circular economy transition within the construction industry through industrial symbiosis

It is an honour to speak to Nigerian researchers recently on 29 July 2025 as part of the Concrete Matters seminar series, and engage with leading experts in concrete research in Nigeria, among others, Assoc. Prof. Engr. Dr. Kolawole Olonade, Engr. Dr. Abiola Adebanjo and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joseph Ukpata. I am thankful to the Society of Cement and Concrete Researchers in Nigeria (SCCRIN) for the invitation to share experience working on the circular economy transition within the construction industry through industrial symbiosis. It is heartwarming to feel the support shown by the 300+ Nigerian construction industry stakeholders and their deep passion towards upgrading knowledge and impacting meaningful change. The abundance and depth of talent in leadership and innovation in SCCRIN is instrumental as Nigeria continues the ongoing endeavour to advance towards a circular economy transition, inspiring creation of next-generation job opportunities throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and establishing greater resilience in preparation for future challenges.
